Most current releases of Adobe apps are compatible with macOS Catalina 10.15.
Can I use my Adobe apps in macOS Catalina 10.15?
So far running Adobe Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop and Acrobat, absolutely no issues at all in fact the apps open way faster on Catalina. I draw pinups etc and is good to have the apps respond so quick now. The OS is far more responsive and I hope it stays that way. MacOS Catalina (macOS 10.15) requires apps to be 64-bit. That means older 32-bit apps will no longer run. InDesign CS6 is 32-bit so it will not work on macOS Catalina. Illustrator CS6 is 64-bit, but I’ve read that it has 32-bit dependencies so I’m not sure if it work on macOS Catalina (I have not tested it myself).
Most older Adobe apps were created using 32-bit architecture and do not work in Catalina. We have no plans to update apps that we no longer support or develop. The following table lists some common 32-bit Adobe apps that are not compatible with Catalina. (It is not a comprehensive list of all older 32-bit Adobe apps.). Install adobe indesign cc 2020 on mac. The story began simply enough: I thought I was ready to upgrade to macOS Catalina. I dutifully confirmed that all my important apps were 64-bit happy, then I upgraded my Mac. Everything seemed to.
We've updated most current apps to 64-bit architecture. The following versions work in Catalina, but have these known issues.
Adobe app | Version(s) compatible with Catalina |
---|---|
Adobe Creative Cloud apps | 2020 2019 |
Acrobat Pro & Standard DC | 2019 (subscription or non-subscription) |
Adobe Acrobat Pro & Standard 2017 | 2017 |
Adobe Connect | 10 |
Adobe Digital Editions | 4.5 |
Adobe Photoshop Elements | 2020 |
Adobe Premiere Elements | 2020 |

Uninstall 32-bit apps before upgrading to Catalina
Before you upgrade to Catalina, we recommend that you uninstall your 32-bit Adobe apps. Older uninstallers are also 32-bit apps and don't work in Catalina.
If you already upgraded to Catalina, you can use the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool to uninstall older versions of Creative Cloud apps.
If you've kept Acrobat DC or Creative Cloud apps up to date, they are already 64-bit compliant.
You can update your apps using the Creative Cloud desktop app. See how to update your apps to the latest versions.

Hey there Tim-Ny,
Thanks for taking the time to reach out here in Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you have third-party apps installed that seem to be greyed out in the menu bar after installing Catalina. Is that right? I’ll be happy to help.
Just to confirm, are you able to open and use the affected apps as expected?
Have you tried restarting your Mac to see if that helps? How to turn your Mac on or off
Google playbooks app mac. If so, you can also try testing the issue in and out of safe mode.
I would also recommend checking for any application updates that may be available.
If you’re unable to open the apps, reinstalling the apps to test would also be a good idea.
Rest api design. Take a look at the resources below.
Keep me updated on your findings.
